Most people associate a remote start with an extra remote on their keychain, but there are more options than ever to integrate a remote start into your vehicle.
Factory Remote:Â No need for an additional remote on many newer vehicles, simply press Lock-Lock-Lock on the factory remote and the remote starter will activate! This solution is simple but offers the shortest range and should only be used when the vehicle is within sight from inside.
1-way remote: For vehicles that don’t support the factory option, or when the factory remote is separate from the key a basic remote replacement can be used. This solution offers better range than the factory remotes, but again should only be used when the vehicle is within sight from inside.
2-way remote:Â These remotes will chirp and light up to let you know the vehicle command was executed. For example, press and hold the start button, and the remote sends the signal to the car. The car gets the command and sends a signal back to the remote, which will chirp to let you know the vehicle got the command to start. This solution works best when the car is relatively nearby but cannot be seen inside. Range can be 1/2 mile to 2 miles.
LCD remote:Â A 2-way remote that offers additional information such as: run time remaining, door lock status, trunk open alert, and alarm paging (the remote will go off like a pager if the car alarm is tripped). Range can be 1/2 mile up to 3 miles.
