About the AudioControl A1100.5
Flying high in first class
AudioControl’s Altitude A1100.5 five-channel amplifier’s sleek anodized aluminum chassis protects the precision high-spec electronic components inside and provides high-temperature thermal dispersion through its stylish cooling fins. AudioControl designed this Altitude amplifier to power the music system in almost any vehicle — including some vehicles with stop-start electrical systems.Performance
The A1100.5 can power four speakers with 90 watts RMS each plus a subwoofer with up to 600 watts RMS, so you’ll hear and feel the full range and all the fine details of your music clearly when you’re on the go. The amp can power separate tweeters and woofers in an active 2-way front stage plus sub stereo system, thanks to the adjustable onboard crossovers’ wide frequency ranges. Adjustable low-pass and subsonic crossovers plus a parametric-style bass boost help achieve perfect bass tone. An optional wired remote bass knob lets you control the sub level from your front seat.Volume-level security
The A1100.5 has a Valet Mode feature that limits the amp’s volume to 25% of its maximum when you engage it with your custom-installed switch (not included) — so parking lot attendants or your teenagers’ friends can’t damage your speakers or subwoofers by cranking up the volume too high when you’re not around.Product highlights:

Features
Overview: The A1100.5 5-channel amplifier is part of Audio Control’s Altitude Series amplifiers, offering robust power, exceptional sound quality, and long-lasting durability. The amplifier features an anodized aluminum chassis that provides superior thermal dissipation with a sleek, modern look. The A1100.5 is EV compliant (up to 17-volts) and compatible with Start-Stop vehicles.
Class D Circuitry: The Audio Control A1100.5 amplifier features Advanced HEXFET® power MOSFETs from International Rectifier that use advanced processing techniques to achieve extremely low on-resistance and fast, reliable switching speeds. A premium toroidal transformer and low ESR capacitors provide optimum efficiency with minimal power loss and signal distortion. Precision metal potentiometers for the audio adjustments allow for precise tuning.
Power: The Audio Control A1100.5 can provide the following RMS output power (@ 14.4 V):
- 90W x 4 + 400W x 1 @ 4-ohms
- 125W x 4 + 600W x 1 @ 2-ohms
- 250W x 2 @ 4-ohms bridged (channels 1/2 & 3/4)
Controls & Indicators: All of the A1100.5 controls are located under a protective panel. The panel can be removed using the provided 2.5mm Allen key. A slot-head screwdriver (not included) is needed to adjust the rotary controls. Amplifier controls include:
- Trigger Mode: A 3-way switch determines the activation method for the amplifier:
- Remote: Requires a 12 V signal on the Remote In terminal to activate the amp.
- GTO (Great Turn On) Signal Sense: This method activates the amp when it detects your headunit powering up, and deactivates when the headunit powers off. Channel 1 input must be used for GTO sensing to work.
- Audio: Activates the amplifier when an audio signal is detected on Channel 1 input, and will deactivate when no signal is present. This setting works well when you have your headunit on, but aren’t playing anything, the amp won’t be activated.
- Input Level: A 2-way switch sets the amplifier to work with either Low-level signals (500 mV-6 V) or High-level signals (1.5-20 V) using the LC Direct speaker-level input harness.
- Input Mode: A 3-way switch determines which inputs will be feeding the five amp channels; options for 2Ch, 4Ch, and 6Ch.
- Power LED: Illuminates White when the amplifier is powered on and working nominally.
- Protect LED: Illuminates Red if the amp detects a shorted speaker wire or an internal problem.
- Channel 1/2 & 3/4 Controls:
- Filter Mode (x2): A 3-way switch for channels 1/2 and 3/4 determines the filter type; HPF, LPF, Off (full).
- Filter Frequency (x2): Two rotary dials let you set the cutoff frequency of each Linkwitz-Riley Crossover; 50-500 Hz or 50-5000 Hz range (based on Filter Range switch) with a 12 dB/octave slope.
- Filter Range (x2): A 2-way switch for each crossover multiplies the cutoff frequency value; x1 and x10.
- Gain (x2): A rotary gain control for each pair of channels adjusts the overall level of the input signals.
- Max: A Max LED next to the Gain dial will glow briefly during loud bursts of music when the gain has been set for optimum performance. If the Max indicator is frequently lit, the Gain may need to be lowered.
- Channel 5 (Subwoofer) Controls:
- Low Pass Crossover: A rotary dial lets you set the cutoff frequency of the Linkwitz-Riley Low Pass Crossover; 60-120 Hz range with a 12 dB/octave slope.
- Gain: This rotary gain control adjusts the overall level of the input signals.
- Max. Indicator: An LED next to the Gain dial will glow briefly during loud bursts of music when the gain has been set for optimum performance. If the Max. Indicator is frequently lit, the Gain may need to be lowered.
- Subsonic Filter: Filters frequencies below the optimal range; filter can be set from 0-50 Hz.
- ParaBASS: A rotary ParaBASS control lets you select a frequency between 40 and 80 Hz and use the corresponding Level dial to add up to 10 dB of boost at the selected frequency.
Valet Mode: A set-screw terminal on the amplifier lets you connect an optional rocker switch (sold separately) for activating Valet Mode. When switched on, this mode lowers the maximum volume of the amp to 25%, letting you hand over your vehicle to a parking valet or young driver without having to worry about the volume getting turned up too high and damaging speakers.
Optional ACR-1 Wired Remote Control: The optional ACR-1 wired remote control (sold separately) lets you easily adjust the audio level of subwoofer output separately from the other four channels. The ACR-1 can be mounted underneath a dash panel or console and includes a 20′ connection cable with RJ-14 connectors.
Connections: The A1100.5 features set-screw wiring terminals that use the included 3mm Allen (hex) key for loosening/tightening. Connections include:
- Power & Ground: Power and Ground terminals will accept up to 2-gauge wire (4-gauge recommended; Remote In terminal accepts up to 8-gauge wire (18-gauge is usually sufficient). The A1100.5 amplifier does not include any fuses; a 120A fuse (sold separately) should be placed in-line on the power wire, no more than 18″ from the battery.
- Low-Level Inputs: Three pairs of RCA jacks (Ch 1/2, Ch 3/4, & Sub 1/2) are provided for connecting the amp to the source unit via RCA cables. The low-level inputs can accept audio signals from 500 mV to 6 V. The Input Mode switch will need to be set according to how many of the RCA low-level inputs are used (2Ch, 4Ch, or 6Ch).
- LC Direct (Speaker-Level Inputs): A 16-pin connector with twelve wires provides the speaker-level inputs for connecting to a headunit without low-level (RCA) outputs. The speaker-level inputs can accept signals from 1.5-20 volts.
- Speaker Output: Five pairs of set-screw terminals, accepting wire up to 8-gauge, are provided for the four main speaker outputs and the subwoofer output. Bridging terminals for channels 1/2 and 3/4 are indicated on the amp.
- RJ-14 Jack: An RJ-14 jack provides the connection for an optional ACR-1 wired remote (sold separately).
